West Coast Swing
A popular social and competitive dance, West Coast Swing is known for its playful and rhythmic styling. It is danced to a variety of music--commonly, Blues, R&B, and Pop. West Coast Swing has its origins in Lindy Hop which was popularized in the 1930's and still danced around the world to music of that era.
A variety of classic dances are generically called, "Ballroom," although this more properly refers to a smaller set of smooth dances. These include Waltz, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, and Tango. Numerous other dances, the rhythm dances — like Cha Cha, Rumba, and East Coast Swing — fill out this category.
Country music lends itself to a number of dance styles, most notably, Two Step. The Country dances are popular at Metroplex clubs and dance halls. Several of the Country dances are danced competitively along with Cha Cha, Waltz, East Coast Swing, and West Coast Swing.
